THE SEARCH ENGINE
FIND WEB PAGES OR A LIST OF MAJORS/COURSES OF STUDY?
A search can be performed in one of two ways, for example, if you are interested in studying “Geography”, choose “Geography” where it asks for major/course of study, then click on “ Search Available Programs”. The search will return a list of all the available academic programs in Geography as well as additional useful information. Alternatively, if you are just interested in seeing the links to the site’s web pages with information about “Geography”, click “Search Web Pages” and the engine will return a list of suitable links. There are 6 basic search categories: ACADEMIC INSTITUTION/TYPE OF INSTITUTION, FIELD OR COURSE OF STUDY, MAJOR/ ACADEMIC PROGRAM, LOCATION, DEGREE AWARDED, KEY WORD. A Boolean search may be done by combining categories, but for every search one defined parameter must be selected. For example: searching Tel Aviv University + The Humanities + Bachelor’s Degree, will return all possible B.A. programs in the Humanities offered by Tel Aviv University.
Departments are classified in accordance with the principal disciplines which are taught with them. The search by discipline can help you to find additional departments in which the areas of study which interest you are taught. Thus for example, when the search variable is discipline and a search is performed on biology, the search results also lead to departments such as: Biology-Psychology, Brain Studies, Oceanography, etc.
Search results appear as a list of programs and links. You can move between links by clicking either backward, forward, top or bottom. Once you have made your choice just click and follow the link to the information you need.
After completing your search, you can save any links and information you want to
refer to later by selecting them and then clicking “Save/Copy to my Personal Search
Database”. All selected information will be saved and at your disposal so that you
will be able to make a more informed choice when calculated your chances of being
admitted to the program or programs of your choice.
